For Christmas we are in Wyoming. We are almost finished with our first week here. We have been hanging out with Amanda's parents and sister. It has been a fun and relaxing time. Josiah came down with a cold and an ear infection the day before we left. He handled the plane rides very well. Everyone was amazed at what a good baby he was. He isn't sleeping very well at night because of a stuffed up nose, but he is still a pretty happy baby even though he isn't sleeping very well. Below are some pictures that highlight the week.

Grandma and Grandpa Kessler got him a new hat. I thought this was a cute picture of him in itHere is Aunt Kate and Josiah hanging out.

Josiah also got his first experience with snow. We had to wait almost a whole week to get him outside because the temperatures in Lander were only in the single digits. But yesterday he got to go outside in his new snow suit. He enjoyed being outside, but he didn't fully understand what snow was.

Josiah also got to go for his first sled ride. We tied a rope to a sled and pulled him around the yard. He thought it was fun. He gave us some smiles while he was riding around.

Jumping is Fun

Josiah is now big enough to fit into his jumperoo. He loves it. He has learned how to play with the toys and he is now an expert jumper. If you are holding on to him when he is outside his jumperoo he will try to jump. It gives his parents a great arm work out.

A Sad Day

Today Josiah had his 4 month dr visit. What a day. He got 3 shots today and was really upset. But he went to sleep on the car ride home. Hopefully, he'll wake up a happy boy.

Here are the stats of our growing boy.
15 lbs 8 oz
24 1/2" long

Josiah is right in the middle with other boys and everything looks good.

Thanksgiving with Aunt Pam

We celebrated our first Thanksgiving together as a family. Josiah was really good. He let mommy and daddy eat the whole meal before he decided he needed attention. Aunt Pam came and joined the festivities. Matt (a friend of Jason and Pam) came up, too.

Halloween and Other Pictures

For Halloween we dressed up as the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe.

Josiah was the lion. I think he made a very cute lion. He helped us win first prize in the costume contest.

This picture shows how chunky he's getting. I think it is funny because he has is thumbs in his pants.

This is Josiah and his daddy playing with a bag of Cheetos. Who says you have to buy your kids toys?

This is Josiah helping Jason work on his Greek.

Rolling Over

It has taken a long time to get this downloaded. Every time I tried something would mess up. So here is Josiah rolling over. He has rolled over several times since this was filmed. You can tell that now he is actually trying to push himself when he gets tired of being on his stomach. The problem is his hand isn't always in the right place for him to get himself over.

Random Josiah Pictures

He likes to sit in his bouncy chair and play with the toys. Jason and I like when he does this because that means we can get something down around the house.
When he has the desire to suck on something, or when he gets tired he turns to his thumb. I thought this was a cute picture of him sucking his thumb.

A couple of weeks ago we took Josiah on his first hike. We went to a place called Rock City. He slept through most of the hike so he didn't enjoy the scenery. This his Josiah in his Wyoming cowboys stuff that Grandma and Grandpa Kessler bought him. I thought this was a cute pictues of him bundled up in his towel after a bath.

2 Month Doctor Visit

Josiah had his two month doctors appointment. He now weights 12 lbs 8oz and is 23 inches long. His head is 16 1/4 inches around. The doctor says he looks great. Josiah also had his first round of shots. He handled the shots okay. He cried but Jason said it was mainly because he didn't like his legs being pinned down. After the shots I nursed him and he left the doctor's office all smiles. On the way home he fell asleep. When he woke up 3 hours later he was in a lot of pain. His right leg was really swollen and inflammed. He couldn't hardly move it. He cried for a long time (while he was crying mommy was crying). We tried to hold him to comfort him, but that only made it worse. He finally settled down around midnight last night but woke up several times. He is feeling much better today. He is moving his leg and we are able to hold him again.
Sorry I don't have any more pictures with me right now. I forgot to download them before I came to the coffee shop. I will try to get more pictures out later this week.

Josiah is 6 weeks old!

Sorry that it has taken so long to update the blog. It is difficult when we don't have internet at the house and our schedule has been hecktic with school starting.

Josiah is now 6 weeks old. We had his one month doctor's appointment last week and he now weighs 10 lbs. 10 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long. He is now starting to smile as you can see from the picture. He is the most happy when he wakes up in the morning. This morning he pooped on mommy and he was very happy about it. I think he smiled for a minute straight.

Josiah really likes to use his legs. Here is a picture of him trying to stand. He enjoys laying on mom and dad's chest and pushing up with his legs.

This is a good picture so show how chunky he is getting. Look at that double chin.

This is Josiah doing tummy time on the boppy. This picture doesn't show it, but he is really starting to hold his head up high.

Josiah's First Week of Life

Here is the best looking kid ever born. Josiah is over a week old now. We had our first doctor's visit yesterday and he is healthy. After one week he has already gained 5 oz and has grown 1/2 inch.

Here is a picture of mom and Josiah hanging out. He enjoys sitting in people's laps and watching the world go by.

This is Josiah making faces at his daddy.

Josiah enjoys hanging out with his dad. They do tummy time together and Josiah sleeps on Jason's lap while Jason does his school work.

Here is the three of us. We are enjoying Josiah a lot. He is very laid back. The only time he cries is when he is getting a diaper change, a bath, or he is hungry. The rest of the time he either sleeps or just quietly looks around at his world.

Amanda still looks great with her contractions.

At 5:05pm baby Josiah was born!

Josiah decided to sun himself and enjoy the warming bed while they were checking him out and cleaning him up.

Man, he sure is a good looking kid!!

Finally, on Wednesday Josiah was able to go home. Here is his leaving the hospital outfit.
He also really likes to look around.

Baby's Room

After the baby shower Jason and I spent the next two days getting all baby's clothes washed and the bed put together. Here is the finished product. A lady from church made the slip covers for the crib. I think she did a great job. Now that the baby's room is done we are just waiting around for him to make his appearance. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I was 2 cm dilated. So it could be any day now. The little guy has been hyperactive the past couple of days, so I think he is ready to get out.

Baby Shower

Saturday the ladies at church held a baby shower for me. It was wonderful. The ladies made some amazing food. We had an egg casserole and they made my favorite dessert, fruit tart pie. Jason and I were blessed to get most of the things that we needed. Here are some pictures of what we got.

Here is a picture of some of the ladies that came. There was a big turn out of about 25 ladies.

A group of ladies got together and bought us a bunch of stuff. The bouncer and the stuff in the baby bath were just some of things we got.

Here is a picture of one of the outfits he got. It was a cowboy outfit with a cowboy hat and boots. The lady who bought it for us was born in Wyoming and knew we would enjoy it.

Coping with the Heat

Last Monday it was over 90 degrees here in Morgantown. To help deal with the heat I went to Jason Locke's house (he's the campus minister here) and played in his pool for a couple of hours. It felt really good to be in the water and take some of the pressure off my pelvis. This is a picture of me riding the alligator because I was getting tired.

Ohiopyle

Today Katie, Jason and I went to Ohiopyle state park and toured the area. This is a picture of Katie and I at the falls.

Jason and I along the Youghiogheny River. (Don't ask me how to pronounce that)

This is Jason and I looking at the falls from the bridge.

Week 35

Here is me at 35 weeks. I know you are thinking the same thing I am. There is no way she can get any bigger. But I still have 5 long weeks ahead of me. Hopefully God will have pity upon me and the little guy will show up a week or 2 early. Please join me in prayer. :)

May Vacation

This month we took a couple of days off and toured a little bit of West Virginia. This first picture is Jason and I at Blackwater Falls State Park.

This picture was taken at Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia. This hill stands 4861 feet above sea level.

One day we played miniature golf. This picture shows how Jason recovered from a bad first put by using his golf club as a pool stick for the second stroke. The ball went in on the second stroke. I think it is cheating but I let him do it anyway.

This is Dolly Sods. It is a little piece of Wyoming stuck in West Virginia. It was nice to be able to see for miles without having a bunch of trees in the way.

This is me at the top of Seneca Rocks. I managed to drag my 6 month pregnant body up 1.5 mile trail. In 1.5 miles we gained 1,000 feet in elevation. I did in 45 minutes.

My favorite part of the trip was being able to feed and watch the 2 foot long trout. The trout live outside the cabin that we stayed at. Here is a cool picture of the fish fighting over the food we threw at them.

Technical Difficulties

We've had some technical difficulties with our blogspot. We finally got it figured out so hopefully we will start updating it more often.
